About
Evergreen principal, Shelley Courington has been working in and around the government relations space for 20 years. During this time, she has worked for nonprofits in government relations with an emphasis on grassroots development and advocacy. She has also worked for a land use consulting firm and led a team of 30 with projects all over the US, focused on community involvement, issues support and turnout for local council meetings.
While she has lobbied for many years, her favorite aspect of government relations is grassroots advocacy and cultivating supporters into consistent action. She is also passionate about teaching organizations and groups how to advocate successfully for their issue.
Shelley and her husband Chris have lived in the Nashville area for 25 years. Together they have a 15-year-old daughter Amelia and a 7-year-old son John Reese. They also have a very cute, but sometimes terrible dog, Nacho. In her spare time, Shelley is a strong advocate for pro-adoption legislation and an autism advocate. She also enjoys quiet time (which is in short supply!), walks, cooking and baking and hanging out with friends.
